Random as day today when I went to get a red for dinner so thought "what-the-fuck-it!" Haven't blogged in a looooooooooooong time, let's do this.

It's a McLaren Vale baby so it has to be good, I've aerated and poured in to that sexy decanter of mine, it is sitting there excreting fine aromas and filling my... kitchen.

I'm going to let it sit for at least an hour or so, maybe two... then drink it like it is the elixir of life.

Cannots be waiting.

Soooooo, this wine ended up being tipped, maybe it was off but it tasted like a rung our dish cloth that had been soaked in an ashtray. Maybe that is what the red dot on the bottle meant????

My favourite time of any day is one where a red is involved.

Today was a little different though, as I had planned to go out and see a friend and down some beers.

Didn't happen. Or it hasn't happened yet.

So, I thought I'd shoot down the road to a bottle store, the bottle store where you either get ignored, followed, grunted at or told if you buy chips too, you'll receive a dollar off, this was the case tonight. A buck off some chips. 

I like being a valued customer.

Anyways, after grabbing the Kalimna and a bottle of Platinum Russian Standard, I promptly returned home.

And here we is. Oliver Lieb playing in the background and straight in to it, no decantering for this beauty as I've had it before and just beckons to be imbibed and blogged about...

I thought it said Shiraz on the ticket, in fact I'm sure it did, that and the relationship to one of my favourite movies, 'Hellraiser' and I thought this was a match made in heaven.

When I got home I read it properly... 'Syrah'

First taste is nice, not like that other poison I had that resembled a watery dish cloth. Quite yummy and going down well with the dinner preparation too.

 So... yuck, didnt even finish it... maybe I should have decantered it first??? Surely Syrah can taste amaze at sub $30.00 buckie? Guess I'll keep searching...

Yeah, so after beers and being tormented by friends in Christchurch eating deep fried squid at a restaurant called 'Foo san', I picked up this bottle, got a better price due to an incorrect ticket price so that is a score. Hard.

Pours out like ruby coloured blood and has a subtle (mature??) bouquet.

First taste... Very good.

I'm going to enjoy this...

Well, bottle almost done as I was playing Skyrim (g33k), it's ok, probably good to have a bottle before going out, or whilst preparing dinner...

Not harsh, easy to drink, forgettable, yet... gets you in the zone.
